U.S. Facilities and Operations:


Supporting product sales are a network of nationwide marketing and manufacturing locations. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is home to the U.S. Corporate Headquarters along with the marketing offices of the Hospital, Outpatient Markets (OPM), Renal Therapies, Vascular Interventional, International, and OEM Divisions. Central Admixture Pharmacy Services, Inc.(CAPS®) is also managed from this location. The nearby Allentown, Pennsylvania, facility manufactures Needle-free products, IV Safety Catheters, Anesthesia Systems, Introducers, Pharmacy Admixture products. Vascular products including Right Heart Catheters and Interventional Accessories are also manufactured in Allentown. The Irvine, California facility produces IV Solutions, Basic and Specialty Nutrition, Drug Delivery, and BTC products. Infusion Pump Systems are manufactured in Carrollton, Texas and IV administration and IV and Irrigation sets are produced in the Dominican Republic.


Position Summary:


The R&D Systems Analyst position provides technical leadership for R&D design software and processes. Defining technical requirements based on business needs.  The position is responsible for developing and/or maintaining systems based on company requirements. Also support the product design needs within R&D.


Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Provide support on R&D design hardware and software.
  • Assist Network Administrators and the helpdesk, desk-side support group with technical support issues.
  • Analyze technical problems and define a strategy for resolving the issue.
  • Develop, implement and maintain systems based on the business needs of the company.
  • Create and/or maintain system validation documentation.
  • Assist with research and evaluation of new technologies.
  • Support projects by contributing to the required design activities.
  • Supervise and direct contract personnel and outside vendors in the performance of contracted services.
  • Provide leadership, training, and guidance to CAD users within the company.
  • Provide direction and technical decision making for management involving capital asset purchases and expenses involving up to $750,000 (capital/expense/revenue potentials).
  • Moderate degree of both internal and external personnel interfaces.
  • Preparation of specifications and protocols for the development, testing, and qualification of equipment and processes.
  • Communicate both verbally and written, project activities to supervisor.

 Expertise: Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Must have good understanding of general R&D practices and have the ability to communicate in a technical and non-technical manner.
  • Must have the experience in Computer Aided Design and PDM system such as Solidworks and PDM Professional.
  • Must have good communication skills and be able to interface with users. Must practice good time management and project leadership skills.





Expertise: Qualifications - Experience/Training/Education/Etc



  • Bachelor's degree (B.S. Engineering) from four-year college or university and 4-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of 12 years of education and experience.
  • Experience with Solidworks and PDM Professional software.
  • 5-6 years of plastic part design experience.
  • An understanding of Solidworks troubleshooting tools and resources.
  • Understanding of plastic part manufacturing basics (mold requirements).
  • Experience working in a design for manufacturing team.
  • Experience supporting the installation and support of R&D design software, working with owners and vendors. Includes PDM software.
  • Must have experience working with Microsoft Office Suite of products, specifically Word, Excel, Power point and Project.
  • Domestic travel with the possibility of International travel.


  • SolidWorks and/or PDM Professional
  • Management and installation of a multi site PDM package.
  • Experience in working with network administration and help desk support groups.
  • Experience designing plastic parts for high volume production.
  • Experience training SolidWorks and/or PDM Professional users.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
