U.S. Facilities and Operations:


Supporting product sales are a network of nationwide marketing and manufacturing locations. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is home to the U.S. Corporate Headquarters along with the marketing offices of the Hospital, Outpatient Markets (OPM), Renal Therapies, Vascular Interventional, International, and OEM Divisions. Central Admixture Pharmacy Services, Inc.(CAPS®) is also managed from this location. The nearby Allentown, Pennsylvania, facility manufactures Needle-free products, IV Safety Catheters, Anesthesia Systems, Introducers, Pharmacy Admixture products. Vascular products including Right Heart Catheters and Interventional Accessories are also manufactured in Allentown. The Irvine, California facility produces IV Solutions, Basic and Specialty Nutrition, Drug Delivery, and BTC products. Infusion Pump Systems are manufactured in Carrollton, Texas and IV administration and IV and Irrigation sets are produced in the Dominican Republic. 


Position Summary:


Primary functions are to: (1) Provide technical Environmental, Health & Safety support to Manufacturing, Distribution and Corporate Personnel, (2) assists in the development of EHS/Security programs and objectives, (3) perform safety training programs, (4) monitor EHS/Security regulations, through audits and technical support, to ensure compliance with Local, State & Federal EHS/Security regulations. These functions are specific to FL Operations.  

Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Monitor exposure to hazardous chemicals (industrial hygiene monitoring.). Schedules with operations. Oversees the industrial hygiene function.
  • Audits and performs safety inspections on manufacturing and facility equipment.
  • Perform Machine Safety Assessments (MSA) for FL Operations.
  • Oversee the 3E MSDS Management Program and maintenance updates.
  • Performs compliance audits to ensure compliance with company programs and EHS/SECURITY regulations (FL Operations).
  • Determines and orders EHS/SECURITY supplies as needed for FL Operations.
  • Identify EHS/SECURITY training needs for FL Operations. With the assistance of FL Operations Training, develop, coordinate & perform EHS/SECURITY training programs.
  • Promote EHS/SECURITY awareness thru interaction with employees.
  • Assist in the creation/revision of company EHS/SECURITY policies and procedures for FL Operations. Includes research/review of new EHS/SECURITY regulations.
  • Understanding of Government Regulations.
  • Facilitate all hazardous and non-hazardous waste shipments for all hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials for FL Operations.
  • Supervise and maintain all recycling activities and/or initiatives for FL Operations.
  • Review injury/illness & non-injury incident reports with the Medical Office, HR and EHS/SECURITY and follow-up with necessary personnel as required.
  • Provide input for annual EHS/SECURITY goals.
  • Coordination and monitoring of Safety Teams and Programs (Safety Committee & First Responders) for FL Operations.
  • Responsible for preparing and providing input for completion of all environmental compliance reporting and permitting activities for FL Operations.
  • Participate in external vendor/contractor environmental audits for regulated waste activities (hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, medical waste and recycling).
  • Perform JSA (Job Safety Analysis) for FL Operations.
  • Perform Ergonomic Evaluations for FL Operations.
  • Responsible for preparing or providing input on the following reports: Exposure Monitoring, Hazardous Waste, Contingency Plan, Sara Title III, Waste Water Discharge, Toxic Chemical Release and Facility Audits.
  • Identify and track EHS/SECURITY Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • Ensure OSHA, USEPA, FLDEP and USDOT requirements are met.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Expertise: Knowledge & Skills 

  • Familiar with OSHA, USEPA, FLDEP, MSDS Management and Industrial Hygiene practices and methodologies.
  • Experience in writing reports, business correspondence and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ability to interpret professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations and presenting the information in a manner that is easily understood.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Computer literacy required. Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good written and verbal skills required.
  • Mechanical/Technical Aptitude.
  • Ability to utilize Industrial Hygiene Monitoring Equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, organize, multi-task and communicate with all levels of employees is required.
  • Ability to speak to groups of employees numbering up to 75.
  • Ability to interact with external vendors.
  • Must be able to interpret, understand and communicate government regulations in a clear concise manner.


Expertise: Qualifications - Experience/Training/Education/Etc



  • Bachelors Degree – preferably in environmental/safety or other technical discipline.
  • 2 years EHS/SECURITY experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • RCRA/USDOT Certification.
  • Hazardous Waste Management Certification.
  • OSHA General Industry (29 CFR 1910) 10-Hour Certification.
  • Business travel required, valid driver’s license required.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours and/or days as necessary and at last minute if required.

  • A background in dealing with responding agencies (police, fire & EMS) and the knowledge of what procedures will be followed during a time of crisis would contribute greatly to the position. An understanding of people’s reactions in emergency situations, and past encounters with said people, would also contribute greatly to the position 


  • OSHA General Industry (29 CFR 1910) 30-Hour Certification
  • OSHA 501 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety & Health Standards for General Industry.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
