U.S. Facilities and Operations:


Supporting product sales are a network of nationwide marketing and manufacturing locations. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is home to the U.S. Corporate Headquarters along with the marketing offices of the Hospital, Outpatient Markets (OPM), Renal Therapies, Vascular Interventional, International, and OEM Divisions. Central Admixture Pharmacy Services, Inc.(CAPS®) is also managed from this location. The nearby Allentown, Pennsylvania, facility manufactures Needle-free products, IV Safety Catheters, Anesthesia Systems, Introducers, Pharmacy Admixture products. Vascular products including Right Heart Catheters and Interventional Accessories are also manufactured in Allentown. The Irvine, California facility produces IV Solutions, Basic and Specialty Nutrition, Drug Delivery, and BTC products. Infusion Pump Systems are manufactured in Carrollton, Texas and IV administration and IV and Irrigation sets are produced in the Dominican Republic.


Position Summary:


Responsible for improving the reliability of equipment, processes and utilities by incorporating the principles of Reliability Centered Maintenance. Apply techniques toward the improvement of asset reliability (under the direction of supervisor).  Responsible for prescribing reliability driven actions that require independent and/or collaborative judgment.


Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Trend work to identify high cost and/or high frequency maintenance activities and identify actions to improve reliability.
  • Define scope and develop business justification analysis for modification work as assigned by Management.
  • Initiates failure analysis effort for key Work Orders.
  • Analyze and report historical data in Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) needed to perform reliability process and develop maintenance strategies.
  • Lead reliability reviews and perform failure modes analysis for new assets being developed through capital project process.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities through extended parts life, reduced labor cost and other improvement techniques.
  • Analyze life cycle cost reports for new equipment.
  • Experience with Total Quality Management (TQM) methods (e.g. "six sigma") or reliability centered maintenance preferred
  • Report to Senior Management the metrics of the maintenance systems, e.g. downtime, OEE and spending results.
  • Backs up the store room operation as needed.
  • Defines, develops, administers and refines the maintenance program for all assets. This would include: Set up Preventative Maintenance (PM) strategy for all new equipment, review of existing PM effort to insure that the right work is being done in the correct time interval and oversee the Product Data Management (PdM) efforts in area of responsibility.    


Expertise: Knowledge & Skills

  •  Demonstrated success in delivering results on several technical challenges.
  • Display a solid technical understanding of engineering and maintenance principles and procedures (e.g. CMMS and its application or scheduling a series of technical tasks utilizing software-based tools).
  • Demonstration application of engineering principles on individual/small projects.
  • Risk Assessment, Lean/Six Sigma Green belt and experience a plus.
  • Experience with Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) preferred
  • Demonstrates leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with equipment Lifecycle Management (LCM), Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Life Cycle Cost (LCC), Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
  • Ability to organize and present technical and project mgt. overviews without assistance.
  • Knowledge of cGMP manufacturing.
  • Must have excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to efficiently communicate with cross-functional teams and management on recommended course of action, with minimal assistance.
  • Must have proficient computer skills and be experienced using CMMS systems.
  • Has the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be a self-starter, detail oriented and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must embrace working in a fast-paced, team-oriented, cross-functional environment.


Expertise: Qualifications - Experience/Training/Education/Etc



  • B.S. degree in Engineering and 5-7 years of experience in Reliability Engineering
  • Limited domestic travel may be required


  • M.S. in Engineering and 8 or more years of experience in reliability, pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP – SMRP or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE – ASQ) highly preferred


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
