U.S. Facilities and Operations:

 

Supporting product sales are a network of nationwide marketing and manufacturing locations. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is home to the U.S. Corporate Headquarters along with the marketing offices of the Hospital, Outpatient Markets (OPM), Renal Therapies, Vascular Interventional, International, and OEM Divisions. Central Admixture Pharmacy Services, Inc.(CAPS®) is also managed from this location. The nearby Allentown, Pennsylvania, facility manufactures Needle-free products, IV Safety Catheters, Anesthesia Systems, Introducers, Pharmacy Admixture products. Vascular products including Right Heart Catheters and Interventional Accessories are also manufactured in Allentown. The Irvine, California facility produces IV Solutions, Basic and Specialty Nutrition, Drug Delivery, and BTC products. Infusion Pump Systems are manufactured in Carrollton, Texas and IV administration and IV and Irrigation sets are produced in the Dominican Republic.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

 

Reporting to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering, supports all aspects of Duplex Alton operations, which includes aseptic filling and packaging of cephalosporin products. Key member of site Manufacturing Engineering leadership team.  Responsible for 4 - 10 direct reports. 

 

Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Supports all Duplex Alton operations in Irvine.
  • Provides technical assistance as needed to support global operations associated with aseptic operations
  • Monitors engineering and maintenance processes for compliance with the Company, FDA, OSHA, and GMP regulations.
  • Ensure all product quality attributes are met and all quality systems supported.
  • In conjunction with the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering, assists in the development of strategic direction, budgets, manpower, planning, and execution of capital and cost improvement projects.
  • In conjunction with Human Resources, oversees and directs all performance management, employee engagement, training, development, job descriptions, and safety procedures for all Duplex Engineering and Maintenance personnel.
  • Assists in the development of manufacturing systems, procedures, and appropriate metrics to drive Duplex performance.
  • Interaction with Manufacturing, Quality, Finance and Operational Excellence related to process improvements, maintenance, and related Capital projects for the Duplex Alton operation.
  • Create, maintain and develop a high performing Engineering team including appropriate accountabilities to support a successful manufacturing operation.
  • Supports Research and Development including new product introductions as appropriate.
  • Support site activities and provide technical expertise and guidance.
  • Supervise and direct contract personnel and outside vendors in the performance of contracted services.
  • Develops and oversees the preventative maintenance program for the manufacturing equipment. Reviews the program and implements changes for improving the efficiencies of the maintenance department.
  • Develop and maintain an asset management plan.
  • Coordinates and supports plant shutdowns activities to include preventative maintenance and equipment modifications.
  • Examines monthly expenses and approves monthly cost forecasts. Prepares annual expense budget for maintenance.
  • Interfaces with outside vendors for equipment purchases. Reviews technical data on equipment to be used for modification or replacement.
  • Develops downtime tracking programs and approves changes to maintenance methods and/or projects to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Ensures that all areas and equipment are maintained in good housekeeping condition.
  • Other duties assigned.

  • Company policies and procedures, GMP, FDA and OSHA regulations.
  • Engineering principles.
  • Use of computer (Word, Excel, Project, etc.).
  • Leadership and training skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Budgeting and budget management.
  • Preparation of RCIs, and RSEs.
  • Ability to evaluate competence of personnel to perform work within the individual’s specialty(s) area.
  • Communication skills, both verbal and written, commensurable with dealing with senior level management.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

Expertise: Qualifications - Experience/Training/Education/Etc

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or technical discipline, preferably Engineering, with 5 - 8 years Engineering or Operations experience in a medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment with at least 3 years demonstrated successful performance/experience in an applicable engineering position.
  • Related experience in production management, quality, project management, and engineering, with a good grasp of industry regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Limited business domestic and international travel required.
