    SetWorld is a department within Aesculap that specializes in supplying the best quality surgical instruments to hospitals and distributorships around the country.     Position Summary:


    Responsible for the entire process of assembling and controlling of surgery sets, inventory management, ensuring the accurate, timely delivery of loaner and evaluation sets, with complete accuracy in implant traceability. Development of strategies to optimize turnaround time to the customer. Supervision of staff.


    Responsibilities: Essential Duties

    • Manages staff, schedules and prioritizes daily workload.
    • Oversees the daily operations of all Set World functions such as assembling, tracking, shipping, returns processing, decontamination        
    • Plans and organizes Set World operations for future requirements
    • Optimizes workflow to accommodate 24-hour turnaround
    • Produces daily and monthly productivity and efficiency reports
    • Writes, updates, trains and follows SOPs
    • Manages projects requiring special handling and service as needed
    • Interfaces with all levels of management and other company departments including Customer Service, Marketing, Product Managers, Order fulfillment, Technical Services,
    • Planning/Purchasing, and Quality Assurance/Regulatory Affairs
    • Supervising Responsibilities include but not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, improving processes and resolving problems.
    • Must comply with applicable ISO and FDA regulations as stated in Quality Manual

    • Other duties may be assigned

    Secondary or peripheral job functions:

    • Must be able to work On-Call, flexible hours and occasional weekends.
    • Must be able to read books, literature and computer screens for extended periods.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
    • This position requires the handling of instruments that may have been contaminated by blood or other bodily fluids. In compliance with OSHA regulations, Aesculap will provide a safe working environment for all employees.
    • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
    • Occasionally helps pull orders for daily processing.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall quality and efficiency by the department Manager. Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of employees, assigning tasks and checking work at frequent intervals. A portion of time is normally spent performing individual tasks related to the unit or other assignments/duties assigned by the department Manager.


    Expertise: Qualifications-Experience/Training/Education/Etc



    • BA/BS in Business or equivalent in-house experience required
    • Prior experience with EDI or Internet Ordering is a plus.
    • Two to three years supervising/managing a service or a distribution department
    • Knowledge of hospital decontamination and sterilization procedures a plus
    • Working experience in assembling operation and inventory tracking systems
    • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills
    • MS Word and Excel software experience required. Previous experience working with mainframe based warehouse management systems preferred.
    • Working knowledge of SAP a plus.
    • Strong Inventory Management background.

    Language and mathematical skills; reasoning ability:

    • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.  
    • Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
    • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
