    U.S. Facilities and Operations:


    Supporting product sales are a network of nationwide marketing and manufacturing locations. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is home to the U.S. Corporate Headquarters along with the marketing offices of the Hospital, Outpatient Markets (OPM), Renal Therapies, Vascular Interventional, International, and OEM Divisions. Central Admixture Pharmacy Services, Inc.(CAPS®) is also managed from this location. The nearby Allentown, Pennsylvania, facility manufactures Needle-free products, IV Safety Catheters, Anesthesia Systems, Introducers, Pharmacy Admixture products. Vascular products including Right Heart Catheters and Interventional Accessories are also manufactured in Allentown. The Irvine, California facility produces IV Solutions, Basic and Specialty Nutrition, Drug Delivery, and BTC products. Infusion Pump Systems are manufactured in Carrollton, Texas and IV administration and IV and Irrigation sets are produced in the Dominican Republic.




    Position Summary:

    Under the direction of the Engineering Systems Manager, this position is responsible for the oversight of the facilities maintenance and building services, including all maintenance and upkeep of facilities within the Irvine campus. This position is also responsible for facilities related contract services, and environmental compliance support related to AQMD permitting management, air emission, waste stream, reclamation, back flow preventers /PRV/ASME code vessels, etc.  Additional responsibilities include oversight of facilities related contractor training (levels 1 – 3), logistical support for office/people moves and is responsible for approximately 2 exempt and 20-30 nonexempt employees covering multiple facility areas. This position has responsibility and accountability to keep the facility and equipment in the assigned area operating in an effective and compliant manner.

    Responsibilities: Essential Duties

    • Oversight of all facility assets (floors/walls/ceilings/halls/circulation areas) and finishes (paint/carpet /vinyl flooring, etc.) for Manufacturing areas, Laboratories, offices, training/conference rooms, and all common areas (internal and external).
    • Establish long term facility strategies and goals related to reclamation, piping, and air/waste stream management to ensure regulatory compliance.
    • Establish long term capital plan to ensure proper investment pertaining to facilities across the site.
    • Provide contract services management to identify and develop scope of required services, coordinate bidding and drive selection process. Manage contracts and provide oversight of contracted personnel, vendors/companies in the performance of contracted services to ensure contractual obligations and service level agreements are met.
    • Establish departmental goals and objectives.
    • Ensure all Training Modules, SOPs and employee curricula are up to date and manage performance to quality matrix, employee training, and TM modules, etc.
    • Responsible for performing/supporting quality investigations in a timely and thorough manner per applicable investigation procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with FDA, OSHA, AQMD and other regulatory agencies as appropriate.
    • Annual certifications for backflow preventers, PRV, ASME code vessels etc.
    • In collaboration with Human Resources, oversees and directs all performance management, training, development, job descriptions, and safety procedures for all personnel.
    • Air emission and waste stream – monitoring for day to day operation.
    • Support site activities and provide technical expertise and guidance.
    • Develops and oversees the preventative maintenance program for the facilities equipment to create standard work and implement changes for improving the efficiencies of the Site Services department (PM, DM and use of SAP).
    • Coordinates and supports plant shutdown activities to include preventative maintenance and equipment modifications for the Site Services and Facilities Environmental Compliance functions.
    • Tracks monthly expenses and approves monthly cost forecasts. Prepares annual expense budget for Site Services and Facilities Environmental functions.
    • Collaborates with other groups (Production, Engineering, Manufacturing Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and Controlling) in process, quality, and cost improvement projects as well as in the resolution of major issues.
    • Approves facility related projects and ensures the availability of resources for timely completion.
    • Ensures that all areas and equipment are maintained in good housekeeping condition.
    • Reviews work requests/orders, estimates resource requirements, and assigns maintenance personnel appropriately. Creates and administers a methodology to evaluate the timeliness and quality of the assigned work. Sustaining the performance of the Site Services group will be measured by establishing and tracking Key Performance Indicators.
    • Leads Site Service projects to ensure a high level of workmanship. Assists in preparation and completion of technical and non-technical documents, maintenance procedures, drawing packages, and other related documentation for the project.

    Expertise: Knowledge & Skills

    • Working knowledge of cGMPs.
    • Experience working in leadership roles of facility maintenance groups.
    • Able to be independent and a self-starter with limited supervision.
    • Understanding of systems including but not limited to: Fire/Life safety, piping, waste drains, emission, general facility maintenance, city permitting, AQMD permitting etc






    Expertise: Qualifications - Experience/Training/Education/Etc


    • BS degree and 4–8 years of supervisor experience in a pharmaceutical environment.


    • BS degree in Engineering (mechanical/electrical/chemical/ industrial – manufacturing preferred)
    • MBA is a plus.
    • Experience in a regulated industry.
    • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). SAP, etc.

     While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
