    U.S. Facilities and Operations:


    Supporting product sales are a network of nationwide marketing and manufacturing locations. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is home to the U.S. Corporate Headquarters along with the marketing offices of the Hospital, Outpatient Markets (OPM), Renal Therapies, Vascular Interventional, International, and OEM Divisions. Central Admixture Pharmacy Services, Inc. (CAPS®) is also managed from this location. The nearby Allentown, Pennsylvania, facility manufactures Needle-free products, IV Safety Catheters, Anesthesia Systems, Introducers, Pharmacy Admixture products. Vascular products including Right Heart Catheters and Interventional Accessories are also manufactured in Allentown. The Irvine, California facility produces IV Solutions, Basic and Specialty Nutrition, Drug Delivery, and BTC products. Infusion Pump Systems are manufactured in Carrollton, Texas and IV administration and IV and Irrigation sets are produced in the Dominican Republic.


    Position Summary: 


    The Manufacturing Engineer, together with the Manufacturing, Quality Engineering and QC Process Control teams will be accountable for the performance of their assigned operational area against key business objectives such as safety, quality, compliance, and production costs/output. The Manufacturing Engineer will drive peers to manage performance of equipment, systems, and processes; and will work to improve the output, efficiency or quality of the associated manufactured products. Further, the Manufacturing Engineer will:


    Responsibilities: Essential Duties 

    • Applies standard engineering techniques to design, analyze, test, maintain, repair, or improve products, components, or assemblies.
    • Control production activities, material flow, and inventory to achieve cost and quality targets and production schedules of the assigned production line(s), ensure compliance of standards.                                                                            
    • Improves and maintains current systems or creates brand new projects.                                                                                                        
    • Applies engineering techniques and analyses within the scope of the assignment.    
    • Support company goals and objectives, policies and procedures, and FDA regulations.
    • Ensure that all regulatory and internal policies are followed.
    • Drive and participate in red dot walks and/or risk assessments to identify and eliminate unsafe conditions and unsafe behaviors.
    • Ensure individual training requirements are completed on time. Review and revise curricula as job requirements change.  Identify ongoing job specific and/or technical training needs to sustain competencies.
    • Monitors maintenance processes for compliance with the Company, FDA, OSHA, and GMP regulations.
    • Assist in coordinating plant shutdowns in his/her areas of responsibility to include preventative maintenance, major projects, and plant modifications

    Expertise: Knowledge & Skills


    • Develop new manufacturing processes and equipment technologies to enable low cost, high quality manufacturing.
    • Apply lean manufacturing methods to cut product cycle time and costs.
    • Develop highly capable manufacturing processes for existing products.
    • Prepare Request for Capital Investments including project description, schedule and costs.
    • Draft, edit and update SOPs as necessary to respond to resolution plans to support new processes and equipment.
    • Prepare Change Control Request to document any changes to process, material, or methods.
    • Apply fundamental engineering principles to analyze existing processes, procedures and equipment to identify areas of improvement and recommend solutions to optimize systems.
    • Perform root cause analysis and develop corrective and preventative actions for quality systems and production issues.
    • Utilizing data and trends, outline continuous improvement opportunities in Pareto format to eliminate repeat and reoccurring discrepancies. Track effectiveness measures through completion.
    • Develop a manufacturing plan for line extensions.
    • Creates and delivers presentations to all levels of the organization regarding project timing, cost, risks and quality (scope and performance).
    • Identify and implement process related improvements.
    • Support and provide input for quality trending related CAPA's.
    • Working with R&D and PD to help transfer new products into production.
    • Apply lean manufacturing methods to cut product cycle time and costs.
    • Support Validation (IOQ, PQ, and PPQ) of product, equipment and processes.
    • Work closes with Maintenance Mechanics to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
    • Interface with other departments to solve production problems.
    • Interfaces with outside vendors for equipment purchases and maintenance.
    • Support EHS or incident investigations in accordance with internal and regulatory requirements.
    • Requires full working knowledge of professional field and industry. Influences the development of and drives the application of principles, theories, and concepts. Determines best course of action.
    • Demonstrated expertise within an engineering specialty area.
    • Knowledge of GMPs both basic and unique to the department’s specialty(s) area and cGMP manufacturing.
    • Ability to effectively influence/collaborate with cross-functional, cross-cultural team to meet business objectives.
    • Ability to engage people with different opinions, thoughts and convictions on work-critical technical or business issues and to build alignment to move business forward.
    • Strong communication (written and verbal), attention to detail, prioritization, and organizational skills.


    Expertise: Qualifications - Experience/Training/Education/Etc.



    • 4-6  years related experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in related field required


    • Master’s degree in related field preferred
    • Applicable industry certification preferred
