    U.S. Facilities and Operations:


    Supporting product sales are a network of nationwide marketing and manufacturing locations. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is home to the U.S. Corporate Headquarters along with the marketing offices of the Hospital, Outpatient Markets (OPM), Renal Therapies, Vascular Interventional, International, and OEM Divisions. Central Admixture Pharmacy Services, Inc.(CAPS®) is also managed from this location. The nearby Allentown, Pennsylvania, facility manufactures Needle-free products, IV Safety Catheters, Anesthesia Systems, Introducers, Pharmacy Admixture products. Vascular products including Right Heart Catheters and Interventional Accessories are also manufactured in Allentown. The Irvine, California facility produces IV Solutions, Basic and Specialty Nutrition, Drug Delivery, and BTC products. Infusion Pump Systems are manufactured in Carrollton, Texas and IV administration and IV and Irrigation sets are produced in the Dominican Republic.


    Position Summary:

    Provide engineering support toward the design and development of pharmaceutical IV containers. Provide skills within the areas of electrical/mechanical/manufacturing engineering.


    Responsibilities: Essential Duties

    • Routinely conducts testing under lab notebook studies or protocols utilizing good documentation practices.
    • Tracks and coordinate the calibration of laboratory equipment.
    • Routinely inputs raw data into Excel spreadsheet and provides data summaries including raw data location and basic analysis such as average and standard deviation.
    • Able to effectively communicate lab activities and roles and responsibilities of lab personnel to customers, including engineers and managers.
    • Proficient in Solidworks, ability to autonomously develop parts as solutions for new product fixturing.
    • Knowledgeable of standard machining practices.
    • Capable of frequently developing standardized fixturing to interface between lab equipment and test samples.
    • Updates engineers on the status of activities and tracks specific project time consumption.
    • Capable of managing time to a regimented schedule in order to meet departmental expectations and external demands.
    • Works collaboratively with other technicians to regulate the workflow and influx of testing requirements in a timely manner.
    • Coordinate activities with other technicians and engineers.
    • Develops test methods that meet internal and external standards such as ISO, ASTM, and USP.
    • Composes test methods that include the integration of pictures, flow charts, and data sheets.
    • Develops, conducts, and evaluates Gage R&R studies on test methods.
    • Prepares specifications and protocols for developing testing.
    • Designs and assembles test fixtures and measurement methods as directed by supervisor. Installs and debugs equipment as required.
    • Assembles, operates, repairs, and debugs prototype processing equipment.
    • Supports projects by contributing as a team member to the development of project schedules, costs, preparing status reports, attending team meetings and communicates issues and progress to team and management.
    • Research and coordinate the purchase of laboratory equipment.

    Expertise: Knowledge & Skills

    • Proficiency with Work and Excel
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret ISO, ASTM, or USP test procedures
    • Ability to write and execute test methods, protocols, and reports.
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from engineers and managers.
    • Manages time effectively to meet key goals with little instruction after initial task explanation.
    • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
    • Ability to lift 30 pounds at least 50% of the time and work in a standing position.
    • Knowledge of machine shop practices.
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and schematics.


    Expertise: Qualifications - Experience/Training/Education/Etc


    • Completion of mechanical technologies program equivalent to a 2 year vocational school program or an AA degree and 2-3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of 6 - 7 years of education and experience.


    • Bachelor’s degree
    • CQI, CQT, and CSSGB certifications from ASQ
    • Familiarity with Excel pivot tables and charts
    • Familiarity with MiniTab, LabVIEW, and AutoCAD

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
