    Position Summary:

    Aesculap’s internship program provides an exciting opportunity for participants to have hands on medical scientific affairs experience in the growing medical device field.  Intern will be responsible for team support, related projects, and other duties as assigned.


    Responsibilities: Essential Duties

    • Learn basics of Good Clinical Practices and Code of Federal Regulations.
    • Learn about Aesculap products involved in planned and ongoing studies/projects.
    • Create and carry out a cohesive plan for each assigned project.
    • Provide administrative and operational support for each assigned project.
    • Collaborate with other functional areas on various projects as needed.
    • Attend and participate in study/project meetings for department projects.
    • Prepares and presents end of summer internship presentation to Executive Team.
    • Other duties may be assigned.

    Project Specific:

    • Assist in the distribution, follow-up/collection and data entry of activL surgeon surveys.
    • Perform review of existing study master file templates and indices and propose improvements.
    • Support and participate in the development of an electronic scientific literature library.
    • Facilitate the completion of the biennial review and approval of standard operating procedures.
    • Assist study managers in study start-up and site management activities.
    • Create and maintain electronic (paper, as necessary) files for all study/project documentation.
    • Attend study site visits and meetings as necessary.
    • Conduct literature searches as requested.

    Expertise: Knowledge & Skills    

    • Language Skills: Proficiency in English language. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports and business contracts. Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to team members, management and clients.
    • Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic and advanced business math including manipulating spreadsheets in Excel, and creating appropriate graphs.
    • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.


    Expertise: Qualifications-Experience/Training/Education/Etc

    • Currently enrolled full time in an undergraduate program with a major in Biology, Biotechnology, Business Admin., Healthcare Admin., Health Sciences: Nursing or Medical, or other relevant field. (Junior year preferred)
    • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Data Entry/ Database (quick study)

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
