Responsibilities

Position Summary:

This position shall be part of the Analytical group within the Quality department. The incumbent shall participate in idea generation, screening, and proof-of-concept activities to sustain post-approval product quality. This is a laboratory based position, and the incumbent shall be responsible for ensuring analytical methods and specifications are accurate and up to date as a result of regulatory changes/updates or as part of the analytical methods life cycle management.

 

Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Perform analysis using various techniques including established and experimental test methods.
  • Use instrumentation both qualitatively and quantitatively where appropriate.
  • Complete projects from protocol to final report.
  • Train analysts as appropriate.
  • Develop and validate analytical methods and verify USP methods.
  • Keep current with new analytical technology.
  • Possess ability to work independently and as part of a team with self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
  • Prepare technical reports.
  • Prepare new and update existing work instructions, SOPs, and qualification documentation.
  • Conduct lab study design and preparation in study plans and protocols.
  • Perform lab investigations, Discrepancies, OOS, and OOT as required.
  • May provide guidance to and/or oversee the work of lower level scientists

Expertise: Knowledge & Skills

  • Expertise in Analytical Techniques such as HPLC, GC, Atomic Absorption, ICP/MS, etc.
  • Familiar with USP procedures and monographs
  • Familiar with FDA and ICH guidelines related to analytical methods development and validation
  • cGMP
  • Work under minimal supervision. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish assigned goals. May periodically assist in orienting, training, assigning and checking the work of lower level employees. Referring only complex problems and issues
  • Judgement is required in resolving complex problems based on experience.
  • Contacts are primarily with direct supervisor, peers and subordinates.

Qualifications

Expertise: Qualifications - Experience/Training/Education/Etc

 

Required:

  • PhD required or equivalent combination of Master’s degree and directly relevant experience and certifications.
  • 10-12 years related experience required.
  • Pharmaceutical Industry or a directly relevant post-doc experience, of 4-8 years for Ph.D. and 6-10 years for M.S. candidates.
  • Applicable industry/professional certification preferred.
  • Occasional business travel required, Secrecy and invention agreement and non-compete agreement
  • Regular and predictable attendance
