Responsibilities

Position Summary:

 

Braun Medical is looking for a Senior OSIsoft PI Software Architect to join our Operational Technology team in the USA. The Senior OSIsoft PI Software Architect needs to have an in-depth experience of OSIsoft Data Historian Systems, Control Systems, and Process Analysis.

The successful candidate should have an extensive background in architecting systems and solutions and in-depth knowledge of software engineering with experience in systems analysis and software development within the pharmaceutical industry. He/she should be highly motivated, an innovative thinker and self-starter, with excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Perform PI system administration duties:

  • System health monitoring
  • System and audit logs review
  • Configuring tags on the Enterprise PI Data Replication Server per site requests and/or tag management automated program
  • Configuration of Enterprise PI asset framework and event framework (AF/EF) to support data analytics project

Maintain Enterprise PI SDLC to align to system changes:

  • Use change control and validation tools to complete configuration changes to the Enterprise PI system
  • Create and/or update SOPs that focus on Enterprise PI standards including PI System Administration, PI Tag and Data Management, PI AF/Analytics Management, etc.
  • Continuously improve the OSIsoft PI system architecture to ensure real-time acquisition and reporting systems remain current in the ever-changing OT / Data landscape.
  • Establish connectivity to external systems like CMMS, MES, LIMS, SAP, etc.
  • SME experience with OSIsoft’s PI Integrator for MS Azure IoT
  • Support and assist with Enterprise OSI-PI and component upgrades Lead and Plan Enterprise PI infrastructure and application upgrades.
  • Lead new sites PI implementation rollouts
    • Manage project end-to-end
    • Work with hosting and networking group to install infrastructure
    • Instantiate/configure/qualify new PI interfaces to align with new site rollouts
    • Work with local QA team to qualify and validate the overall system
  • Provide support to site PI systems as requested by site PI admins Periodically monitor site PI system health and actively look for improvements to site PI configurations Broadcast systemic issues and their remediation to site PI teams (e.g., backups).
  • Define a standard B. Braun PI architecture for all sites and provide guidance to sites for alignment.
  • Manage vendor consultants for PI application project consultant.

 

Responsibilities: Essential Duties

 

  • Configuring, Implementing and troubleshooting OSIsoft PI Products such as PI AF, PI Alerts & Notifications, PI Analytics, PI Core sight, PI OPC, PI DataLink, PI SDK, PI MDB (including PI security), PI Analytics, PI Data Archive, PI OLEDB Enterprise, PISMT, etc
  • Gathering and assessment of business requirements
  • Solution design based on business requirements
  • Help translate a wide variety of end-user needs/requirements into detailed proposals and project plans to meet the project’s requirements
  • Architect and deliver applications, infrastructure, and end-user client tools (ex. Datalink, Process Book, and PI Vision
  • Provide performance optimization and monitoring system health for the OSIsoft PI System.
  • Develops monitoring and maintenance support procedures for system security, deployment of patches, file backups, system restoration, and password management.
  • Develop and maintain effective application technical support documentation including procedures.
  • Support the analysis of business processes, requirements/information gathering, interpreting and validating requirements, developing specifications, and implementing process workflows, including routing and approvals.
  • Experience designing and implementing highly reliable and large-scale systems with HA collectives and federated designs
  • Experience installing, configuring, validating, and tuning PI Server and interfaces
  • Experience implementing analytic solutions with PI Asset Framework Analytics, PI EF and AF Templates, PI Notifications and Performance Equations
  • Experience installing and tailoring client software including PI Vision, ProcessBook, DataLink, and RtReports
  • Experience of Batch reporting solutions
  • Database skills- familiar with SQL and Oracle databases and scripting essential
  • Custom application development on the PI System using VB.net or C#
  • Experience writing software applications and web services using PI-SDK and AF-SDK
  • Solid understanding of Windows OS, networking, TCP/IP protocol, DCOM, OPC comms, and system security fundamentals

Required:

 

  • Solid understanding of the OSIsoft PI system architecture with 10 years plus experience in PI System implementations and Automation systems
  • 6+ years of Business Analysis experience
  • BS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • Minimum of 7 plus years of experience with OSI PI software system implementation and maintenance
  • Superb analytical and troubleshooting skills and methodical approaches to solving difficult problems
  • OSIsoft trained and certified
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team member, but can also work alone, unsupervised
  • Ability to adapt and learn new technologies quickly
  • Passion for quality and excellence

Preferred: 

  • Hands-on Experience: On PI System development & implementation (e.g. Enterprise Server - PI Asset Framework (AF) - PI High Availability – Data Archive - PI ACE - Interfaces- Modbus, OPC, RDBMS, PI to PI, HTML, Perf Mon – RT Scada - PI Universal File, Loader (UFL) - PI Manual Logger - RtWebParts – PI Analytics (including roll-ups and Event frames)- PI Process book - PI Datalink – PI Connector – Coresight – Pi Builder - PI Notifications - PI Alarmview )
  • Ability to create complex AF hierarchies, implement and troubleshoot analytics-based calculations including event frames and roll-ups based on Business requirements.
  • Designing solutions based on PI architecture, configuring PI Interfaces, and testing data flow to PI Archive.
  • Experience with the installation, configuration, and monitoring of OSIsoft PI System servers, interfaces, and user tools.
  • experience with OSIsoft PI System tag creation, tag monitoring, and tag maintenance.
    • Knowledge of FDA, EU, and global GMP’s including Good Automated Manufacturing Practices, 21 CFR Part 11, and EU cGMP Annex 11.
