Responsibilities

Position Summary:

 

The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for Equipment Performance on a shift-by-shift basis. This position will investigate root causes of Manufacturing Equipment downtime and improve Equipment Reliability through the Preventive Maintenance Program. Active participation with cross functional teams and effective communication throughout shift line support is necessary.

 

Responsibilities: Essential Duties

 

  • Schedules and performs Preventive Maintenance on manufacturing equipment during planned downtime.
  • Schedules and performs Demand Maintenance repairs on manufacturing equipment as required.
  • Oversee the Equipment Performance through routine inspection and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Maintains Shop and working area cleanliness, and proper tool inventories.
  • Initiates Continuous Improvement activities that improve the overall Business Operation and specifically to improve equipment Safety, Quality, and Efficiency.
  • For senior positions, act as a team leader to ensure work adequacy and meet timelines through direct oversight integrity.
  • Must follow all Standard Operating Procedures regarding safety, policies, and practices.
  • Develop into subject matter expert for both Equipment and Process, trains others regularly.
  • Documents all activities accordingly and maintains Equipment in validated state.
  • Supports the Metrology department with Calibration requirements and maintains instruments as needed in the inventory.
  • Supports the Quality teams with Discrepancy investigations, immediately escalates Quality concerns to Supervisor.
  • Supports the Business Unit Operation as necessary to ensure high quality Products are Safely manufactured to meet Customer Demand.
  • Supports Engineering with Projects and Improvements as necessary.

Expertise: Knowledge & Skills

  • Required to apply advanced working knowledge of technical field/area of specialization. Exercises general application of principles, theories and concepts, and proposes a course of action. Performs advance shop floor competencies.
  • Works under general supervision. May periodically assist in orienting, training, assigning & checking the work of other peers.
  • May require some limited judgement in resolving problems, at minimum the ability to stop and escalate for support.
  • Contacts are primarily with department supervisors, leads, subordinates, and peers. Occasional contact with external contractors/vendors.
  • Basic knowledge and skills regarding Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • A high level of Root Cause Investigation and Troubleshooting skills and experience.
  • Experience working with Manufacturing Equipment and Processes.
  • cGMP knowledge and experience, including Clean Rooms, Sterilization, HEPA Systems, and Aseptic Filling preferred.

 

Qualifications

Expertise: Qualifications -Education/Experience/Training/Etc

 

Required:

  • High school diploma/G.E.D required, Associate's or technical degree preferred.
  • Related experience OR PBS requirements completed and pass assessment at appropriate level.
  • Regular and predictable on-site attendance
  • Ability to work non-standard schedule as needed

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
