Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Under direction of the Technical Service Manager the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for providing continuous leadership and support to the plant in overseeing all aspects of the Maintenance Department and program. The Maintenance supervisor oversees the maintenance and repair of all plastics processing equipment such as Injection Molding Machines, compounders, blow molders and cast film line in addition to support equipment such as thermolators, chillers, cooling towers, material handling equipment, etc.  Establishes PM schedules for equipment and ensures PM’s are performed in a timely manner.  Minimizes down time by ensuring both in-house competencies for minor repairs and a robust pipeline for outside services exist.  Ensures that all environmental/facility permits and reports are up to date and filed in a timely manner.  Oversees hazardous chemical and waste management.  Ensures that various inspections are performed as well as basic maintenance. Managing all call in and on call schedules for a plant running 24/7. This person may also be called upon to repair critical equipment during night shifts or weekends, on occasion.

 

Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Supervises manufacturing maintenance area to ensure timely and efficient maintenance of production and/or facility equipment.
  • Responsibilities include establishing and monitoring performance of preventative maintenance programs and personnel for improvement of production line performance along with scheduling and planning of line maintenance and cost reduction activities.
  • Responsible for personnel actions including (but not limited to) hiring, performance management and termination. 

Expertise: Knowledge & Skills

  • Requires full working knowledge of relevant business practices and procedures in professional field. Uses standard theories, principles and concepts and integrates them to propose a course of action.
  • Provides direct or supervision to a group of employees, assigning tasks and checking work at frequent intervals. Accountabilities include work and people scheduling, performance management and recommendations for hiring decisions.
  • Judgement is required in resolving all day-to-day problems.
  • Contacts are primarily with department supervisors, leads, subordinates, and peers. Frequent contact with external contractors/vendors.
  • Manage all aspects of the Maintenance department including scheduling of projects and personnel.
  • Develop, implement and maintain a preventive maintenance program.
  • Maintain an effective parts system.
  • Identify, source and work with outside vendors as required.
  • Maintain and repair automated production machinery and support equipment.
  • Replace or repair parts, test operation and make adjustments to production equipment.
  • Maintain maintenance records and logs. 
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment to perform duties. 
  • Preform regular and preventative maintenance on production and support equipment as needed.
  • Participate in the Continuous Improvement Team.
  • Promote cleanliness and safety policies and procedures throughout the entire company.
  • Must be proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Experience in injection molding preferred.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 04-06 years related experience required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
