Position Summary:

Work within a dynamic, team-oriented microbiology lab in order to perform various microbiological testing procedures for a large scale medical manufacturer.  Ideal candidates are self-starting, fast learning, adaptable, and perform well in a team environment.  Training, work experience, and/or educational background involving aseptic technique is a must, as is the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.  Ability and willingness to demonstrate professional working knowledge, skills, and critical thinking while performing assigned microbiological testing and data management/analysis in the microbiology laboratory.


Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Responsible for microbiological sample receiving/labeling/preparation/sampling/test/ counting/checking and recording of data analysis on finished products, stability test samples and any other test requisitions as directed.
  • Supports the department in ensuring laboratory equipment performance, i.e. scheduling and execution of equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), calibration, maintenance and trouble shooting.
  • Responsible for the compilation and preparation of test results/reports related to laboratory testing, including management of entries into controlled documents, lab notebooks, and electronic Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Supports the department in ensuring continuous test operation, good performance, maintenance and housekeeping of laboratory equipment and facilities.
  • Checks on test results for compliance to the methods/specification/procedures, equipment operating instructions and guidelines for the superior.
  • Supports management in the preparation of test methods/specification/procedures and equipment operating instructions.
  • Participates in process and test methods/specification/procedures and equipment operating instructions.

Expertise: Knowledge & Skills

  • Proficient in aseptic techniques.  Microbiological work including membrane filtration, LAL (Bacterial Endotoxin),  and working with various microbiological cultures.
  • Ability to perform at a consistently high quality level, including lab analyses as well as good documentation practices (GDP). 
  • Adaptability is important.  Situations change regularly, so the ability to help out the team and your colleagues by being flexible is an asset
  • Proficient at working with computers for logging in test data, utilizing electronic communications, retrieving and analyzing data, performing online training
  • Assignments are routine and repetitious in nature. Work performed within narrowly defined parameters. Follows established procedures and guidelines.
  • Works under direct supervision and from detailed verbal and/or written instructions. Uses established procedures to accomplish assigned task.
  • May require some critical thinking in resolving problems.
  • Contacts are primarily with lab lead, direct supervisor, peers and subordinates.



Expertise: Qualifications - Experience/Training/Education/Etc


  • High school diploma required, Bachelor's degree in a Science related field preferred.
  • 02-04 years related experience required.
  • Ability to work non-standard schedule as needed
