Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Product Director, Pharma Portfolio Development will serve as a key member of the US Pharma Team.  This individual will lead the development of B. Braun’s upstream injectable drug strategy. This role will report to the Director of Marketing, Pharma and will closely partner with global and local cross-functional teams.  This role will require close cross functional collaboration with the downstream pharma marketing team, R&D, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Supply Chain, Strategy & Innovation, Channel Marketing and Global Strategic Marketing, amongst other relevant stakeholders.   

 

Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Analyze current marketing insights, business trends, procedural data, reimbursement trends, disease prevalence, operational capabilities, collaborate with KOL’s to determine which products are a strategic fit for our Pharmaceutical business long-term. 
  • Collaborate with R&D, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, and Supply Chain to perform the appropriate technical evaluation of these assets.
  • Identify customer segments to support B. Braun’s differentiated Portfolio value proposition for non-acute and acute markets. 
  • Develops business case for the selection and prioritization of new molecules for the research and development pipeline that is aligned with company goals and objectives.  
  • Forecast units and financials including mid to long term revenue budgets and   NPV assessments for new products in development and update them on a regular basis.  
  • Utilizes strong business acumen and therapeutic area expertise to assess potential Business Development & Licensing opportunities, including co-marketing and co-promotion deals for injectable pharmaceutical products. 
  • Collaborates with Global Injectable Drug Marketing team to provide US representation on development of worldwide franchise strategy and issues related to both short and long-term portfolio/brand development.
  • Initiates and analyzes market research as needed with Insights and Analytics team
  • Monitor competitive activity and identify customer needs and translate them into opportunities.   
  • Identify the high value opportunities and support the development of the injectable drug pipeline strategy in working closely with the downstream pharma team. 
  • Conduct regular assessments of the progress and forecasted payback of the products in development to ensure resources are allocated appropriately.   
  • Work with product management team to develop a plan to manage the life cycle of marketed products and ensure there are products in the pipeline to fill in gaps in the current portfolio offerings and those that are created as products mature.  

 

Expertise: Qualifications - Experience/Training/Education/Etc

Required:

  • A minimum of a Bachelors’ degree (BS/BA) from a four-year college or university
  • Minimum of 7 years of marketing experience preferably in the upstream generic injectable pharmaceutical market.    
  • Medical/pharmaceutical marketing experience. New product development/product launch experience, marketing experience, new product development/product launch, and forecasting experience.
  • General understanding of US acute (hospital) and non-acute (outpatient) market segments.
  • Familiarity with applicable regulatory and compliance guidelines governing the promotion of pharmaceuticals.  
  • Proven ability to execute effectively against project plans  
  • Qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.
  • Business travel required both domestic and international.

  • Knowledge of GPO, healthcare distribution channel, and healthcare environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prepare and present reports at executive level briefings.

 

Education and Professional Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

Experience:

  • 07-10 years related experience required.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Requires advanced knowledge of professional field and industry. Influences the development of and drives the application of principles, theories, concepts. Determines best course of action.

Supervision Given and Received:

  • Work under minimal supervision. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish assigned goals. May periodically assist in orienting, training, assigning and checking the work of lower level employees. Referring only complex problems and issues

Contacts/Cooperation:

  • Contacts are primarily with department supervisors, leads, subordinates, and peers. Occasional contact with external contractors/vendors.

Additional Requirement:

  • Occasional business travel required, Valid driver's license and passport, Secrecy and invention agreement and non- compete agreement.
