Responsibilities

Position Summary:

 

Provide engineering support and project management skills toward the design, development, installation, startup, validation and maintenance of products, processes and equipment. Provide engineering skills within a specialty field(s).

 

Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Develops, evaluates and improves industrial manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality control standards.
  • Improves and maintains current systems or creates brand new projects.
  • Analyzes, develops and evaluates systems.
  • Designs and drafts blueprints with designer, visits systems in the field and manages projects.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements and workflow, designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules or other information to facilitate production processes.
  • Confers with vendors in order to determine specifications of products and arrange equipment, material purchase and parts.
  • Evaluates products based on specifications and quality standards.
  • Research, develop and prepare design/specifications for improvements to existing product, process, equipment, and technology.
  • Lead projects by contributing to the development of project schedules, teams, tracking costs, preparing status reports, conducting team meetings, and communicating issues and progress to management.
  • Prepare RCI’s including project description, schedule and costs.
  • Supervise and direct contract personnel and outside vendors in the performance of contracted services.
  • Supervise daily activities of all levels of Engineering Aides.
  • Prepare and present technical investigative reports to management.
  • Moderate degree of both internal and external personnel interfaces.
  • Preparation of specifications and protocols for the development, testing and qualification of equipment, processes and products.
  • Communicate, both verbally and written, project activities to supervisor and Senior Leadership Team.

Expertise: Knowledge & Skills

  • Requires basic knowledge of relevant business practices and procedures in professional field. Uses standard theories, principles and concepts and integrates them to propose a course of action.
  • Works under general supervision. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish assigned goals. May periodically assist in orienting, training, assigning & checking the work of other peers
  • Some degree of judgment required in resolving problems based on experience
  • Contacts are primarily with department supervisors, leads, subordinates, and peers. Occasional contact with external contractors/vendors.
  • Statistical analysis skills (Minitab or similar) preferred.
  • Solid modeling skills (Solidworks or similar) preferred.
  • DMAIC Black Belt or Green Belt preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
