Position Summary:


Supervise daily operation of Special Operation, which includes manpower planning, product movement, coaching/training personnel and systems control.


Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Promote/ensure a safe working environment for employees
  • Supervise Special Operation and temporary employment in the areas of shipping, auditing, and packing
  • Prioritize daily work and allocate resources to ship daily orders accurately, on time and at the lowest cost possible
  • Conduct weekly LPO (Large Pending Orders) with Sales, Supply Chain, Transportation, Customer Service and Operation ensuring timely delivery of shipments, along with completing special order request
  • Coordinate the timely processing of OEM/LPO projects, International shipments, returns to vendor, removal of expiring products and scrap material, convenience kitting requests, and specific customization as needed for outbound processing
  • Monitor process outputs from SAP and visual management systems
  • Develop team members through coaching and monitoring, along with training Direct/Temporary new hires.
  • Continuous improvement of order and inventory accuracy
  • Generate Work Instructions (WI) based on packaging/labeling/Etching requirements per material number and additional areas of responsibility specific to the department
  • Monitor inbound (3rd party) processes requiring materials to be packaged/label/etching to ensure alignment of department metrics
  • Assist in validation of equipment used in department
  • Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of spare parts / equipment inventory used for the repair of medical devices
  • Monitor stockroom inventory levels to ensure proper utilization of available capacity
  • Supervise team responsible for the accurate application of marking instruments used in a surgical environment (laser marking, chemical etch, packaging and labeling)
  • Monitor Preventive Maintenance program of equipment ensuring daily/weekly compliance
  • Collaborate with customer service, sales, transportation, supply chain, quality assurance and quality control, ATS repairs and facilities
  • Prepare and analyze department reports on a daily/monthly basis (IE: Open Orders)
  • Ensure material handling equipment and storage racks are in safe working order
  • Approve payroll records
  • Perform yearly performance evaluations
  • Maintain operation within approved budget
  • Prepare and maintain daily/monthly metric activity reports
  • Monitor/Approve PTO request
  • Submit disciplinary write up based on compliance with company policies
  • Must comply with applicable ISO and FDA regulations as stated in Quality Manual
  • Must embody the Company’s Vision, Mission and Values
  • Other duties may be assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Special Operation and temporary employment, allocating manpower needs as required and prioritizing daily work objectives in all areas of Order Fulfillment.


Expertise: Knowledge & Skills

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.   
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. 
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect date, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 


Expertise: Qualifications-Experience/Training/Education/Etc



  • BS/BA required or equivalent combination of education & experience within a Warehouse/Distribution environment required
  • Three - Five years of supervisory experience required - preferably in a Warehouse/Distribution facility.
  • Previous experience with computer systems and software required – SAP/Microsoft preferred/Shipping Manifest station
