Responsibilities

Position Summary:

 

The Distribution Supervisor II position oversees inventory levels, monitors the safety of goods, and ensures the efficient usage of warehouse space. Supervises the overall warehouse operations and daily activities of staff. Operate applicable system to update inventory status and respond to stakeholder's inquiries. In addition, The Distribution Supervisor II position will contribute to the development of processes and procedures and will be expected to have a thorough knowledge of all functional areas under his/her supervision.

 

Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Supervises activities related to the development and management of an organization's supply chain.
  • Oversees the work of a team that coordinates the movement of raw materials, in process goods or completed merchandise.
  • Administers strategies meant to optimize organizational inventory levels and support organizational business objectives.
  • Forecasts demand or predicts inventory needs based on analysis of historical data.
  • Maintains contact with vendors and submits purchase orders or requisitions in order to ensure a continuous supply of goods.
  • Uses working knowledge of the field's policies, procedures and practices.
  • Responsible for department safety and training.
  • Leads and directs the work of other employees.
  • Typically has some authority for personnel decisions related to hiring, performance or disciplinary actions. 
  • Maintains accurate inventory and cycle counting program.
  • Operates all business systems relevant to the distribution/warehouse operation.
  • Trains co-workers as required to achieve established goals.
  • Responsible for safety, quality, and productivity of warehouse operations.
  • Review loading and receiving processes to minimize errors.
  • Balance shift workload.
  • Reviews distribution/warehouse equipment daily requirements to ensure that repairs are performed on a timely basis.

  • Requires full working knowledge of relevant business practices and procedures in professional field.
  • Uses standard theories, principles and concepts and integrates them to propose a course of action.
  • Provides direct or indirect supervision to a group of employees, assigning tasks and checking work at frequent intervals.
  • Accountabilities include work and people scheduling, performance management and recommendations for hiring decisions.
  • Judgement is required in resolving all day-to-day problems.
  • Contacts are primarily with department supervisors, leads, subordinates, and peers.
  • Frequent contact with external contractors/vendors.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) required.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate the team in a dynamic environment to meet continuous improvement initiatives, cost reduction goals and foster teamwork to be successful.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of people including management staff to ensure successful outcomes of planned initiatives.
  • Strong leader and collaborator, team builder and team player.

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • At least 3 years working experience in a supervisory/management capacity within a distribution/warehouse environment.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in SAP a plus.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 04-06 years related experience required.
  • Applicable industry/professional certification preferred.
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Ability to work non-standard schedule as needed

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
