Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Responsible for developing, directing, and achieving the strategic and annual sales and CMIII plans for the Aesculap Implant Systems (AIS) Orthopedic and Spine Surgery (OSS) North American businesses.  In addition, is responsible for managing, training, and staffing all marketing personnel within assigned business. Has responsibility for the Profit & Loss of the AIS business.  Builds and maintains relationships with Key Opinion Leader (KOL) surgeons, and Key distributors partners for the assigned business responsibility including Canadian Marketing and Sales.

  • AIS Strategic Plan and supporting Annual Objectives
  • Lead and Manage Marketing team
  • Customer Support for Distributor and Healthcare providers
    • Training Curriculum and Strategy
    • Sales Channel Development (IDN/IHN/GPO)
    • Distributor Customer and Surgeon Engagement Program Strategy
  •  
  • Product Life Cycle Strategy and Planning
    • New Product Introduction Strategy
    • Portfolio and Life Cycle Strategy
    • Inventory Forecasting for NPI and differentiated product lines
    • Set and Implants Non-Commercial Inventory Strategy and Allocation
  • Market Awareness
    • Market event and communication strategy direction
    • Communication Media Strategy
    • Responsible for AIS Canadian Sales
    • Communication between AAG and the assigned business
    • Compliance with applicable ISO and FDA regulations as stated in Quality Manual
    • Embody the Company’s Vision, Mission and Values
    • Other duties may be assigned 

Secondary or peripheral job functions:

  • Must be able to travel 40%-50% nationally and internationally (automobile, train and air transport).
  • Must be able to occasionally travel on weekends
  • Ability to work with or use Personal Computer, printer, photocopier, facsimile machine, telephone, Microsoft products, SAP desirable, Lotus Notes
  • Observes surgical procedures as required to remain informed of industry trends.
  • This position requires the handling of instruments that may have been contaminated by blood or other bodily fluids. In compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, Aesculap will provide a safe working environment for all employees.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  •  Director Level. Develops corporate and/or organizational policies for OSS Division, and authorizes the implementation of these policies.  Uses professional experience in support of company objectives to independently identify and implement solutions to complex problems.  Responsible for establishing marketing goals with minimal input from the Vice President.
  • Required to manage department of Marketing Professionals to include Associate through Director level.

Qualifications

Expertise: Qualifications-Experience/Training/Education/Etc

Required: 

  •  Bachelor’s degree with a major in Business or Marketing.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of Marketing or commensurate experience in the related field Sales experience is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Group Product Manager or Director of Marketing.
  • Experience in budget preparation, strategic and marketing plan development.
  • MBA with an emphasis in Marketing is highly desirable.
  • Orthopedic implant product experience and operating room familiarity.

Language and mathematical skills; reasoning ability:

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.   
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. 
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect date, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
